What can I expect from therapy with you?

I work with three main client groups, adults with ADHD, those with loved ones in prison and those with chronic, long-term or invisible illness. The reason I work with these three groups is because I have a solid foundation of understanding about their experiences but I also understand that each person is unique.

During our sessions you can expect to be understood, heard and not judged. I aim to provide a safe as possible space for you to explore yourself, your feelings and your motivations without judgement and with understanding. The reason I use the phrase ‘safe as possible’ is because I can't dictate what is safe for you, I can only be open and follow your lead to make the space feel safe for you.

I want to book a session but I’m scared or worried.

Everyone is scared of booking their first session, I've been there, I know how hard it can be. Most therapists have had life-changing therapy and it's why we go into become counsellors. I understand how scary it is.

How do I get to a session/ what can I expect?

I currently work exclusively online. You will receive your meeting link when you book your session. I join our calls a few minutes before the start time of the session, as the call loads I'll be there ready to hold space. If I'm running late or not there I'll send you a text/email saying as such. 

I often open a session with a hello, how was your week/day and we'll go from there. The modality I use, person-centered counselling, means that I follow your lead - we talk about whatever you want to talk about.

You say that you’re LGBTQIA+ allied, what does this mean?

LGBTQIA+ allied means that I've taken additional training, personal reflection and listened to lived experiences of LGBTQIA+ folks to understand what changes I can make or I can do in my practice as a heterosexual practitioner to be more than aware, to understand the difference and difficulties LGBTQIA+ people face.

Are there any conditions or people you cannot work with?

Please note that counselling with me is not suitable for those in active mental health crisis, have severe mental health problems, have a psychiatric disorder and are experiencing psychotic episodes, those involved in heavy drug or alcohol use and those that are diagnosed with a personality disorders.

This service is also not suitable for those already in 1:1 counselling or other mental health services such as weekly courses.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions are priced at £60 for 50 minutes and £95 for 80 minutes for clients who may benefit from longer sessions. I believe in making therapy accessible, so I offer limited concession spots at £20 per hour. If you are interested in this service, please mention it during your inquiry or at our introductory call.

How many sessions do you offer per client?

I do not have a strict guideline regarding the duration of our sessions together. Some individuals may find that they need only 6 to 8 weeks of support, while others may benefit from a longer or more intermittent therapeutic process throughout their lives. Throughout our collaboration, we will have regular check-ins to assess the necessity of continuing our work, clarify your therapeutic goals, and discuss plans for concluding our sessions. Any potential endings will be clearly communicated, discussed, and approached thoughtfully.

Are you qualified?

I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor and an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society. My registration number is NCS24-05778.

Do you accept Access to Work or Employee Assistance Programmes?

I can accept Access to work and Employee Assistance (EAP’s).

Do you provide ADHD Diagnosis?

I am not qualified to diagnose ADHD, Autism, or any other neurodiversity. However, you do not need a formal diagnosis to access specialized counselling. Whether you are self-diagnosed or simply seeking to manage a busy mind, all are welcome here.
